When is a door not a door?
As a DM for middle schoolers, there is no shortage of distractions and hilarity. They were playing the Waking of Willowby Hall, and I was explaining/drawing the room setup on the first floor of the house. I drew in a room, sketched out some furniture, and drew an angle on the side of the room, saying it was a door.
They asked if the door was closed, and I replied, "No, it's ajar." And went on to the next thing.
All 5 of them shouted, "Wait!" "How is the door a jar?" "That doesn't make any sense. How can the door be a jar?" So much hilarity ensued that it was nearly impossible to get back to the game. One of them grabbed my marker and drew a jar on the mat where the door was supposed to be.
And now, every time I mention a door, anywhere in-game, in a cave, on a rocket ship, in a dungeon, they shout almost in unison, "Is it a jar???"
